A Short Devotion on Service for Your Next Meeting
π Galatians 5:13
βFor, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty... but by love serve one another.β
π Reflection
Freedom, in this verse, isn't the opposite of service, it's the thing that makes real service possible. Serving someone out of obligation and serving them out of love produce very different atmospheres in a room. The people around this table aren't obstacles to your goals, they're people you get to serve toward a shared one. It's worth noticing how differently a meeting feels when people are quietly competing for credit versus when they're genuinely looking for ways to make each other's work easier, the posture changes everything about the room.
β In Practice
Ask out loud, "What does someone in this room need from me today that isn't on the agenda?" Then actually listen for the answer instead of moving straight past the question, even if it means adjusting today's plan slightly to make room for it.
π£ Discuss
What's one practical way we can serve each other, not just work alongside each other, today?
π Pray
Lord, help us serve each other today out of love, not just duty. Show us what that looks like in the work ahead of us, and free us from the quiet competition that so easily creeps into shared work. Amen.
