A Short Devotion on Rest for Your Next Meeting

📖 Matthew 11:28

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

💭 Reflection

It's worth noticing this invitation is addressed to people already working, laboring, carrying weight. Jesus isn't offering rest as an escape from responsibility, He's offering it as something available in the middle of it. A tired team isn't automatically a faithful one, sometimes the most spiritual thing available is to actually stop and receive rest. Groups often wear exhaustion as evidence of commitment, but this verse quietly challenges that assumption, rest received honestly is not a departure from faithfulness, it may be part of it.

If this team has been running on empty, use part of today's meeting to actually acknowledge that honestly, instead of just adding one more task to an already full plate. Naming exhaustion out loud is the first step toward addressing it, rather than quietly enduring it indefinitely.
