A Short Devotion on Boldness for Your Next Meeting

πŸ“– Proverbs 28:1

β€œThe wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

πŸ’ Reflection

There's something almost comic about the first half of this verse, running from nothing. Fear often invents threats that aren't fully real. Boldness, by contrast, comes from a clear conscience and a settled trust, not from certainty that things will go well. It's worth distinguishing boldness from recklessness here, the boldness this proverb describes isn't the absence of caution, it's the absence of imaginary fear, which frees a person to act clearly on the real risks that remain.

βœ… In Practice

Identify the one thing this group has been avoiding out of fear rather than wisdom, and take one concrete step toward it today instead of waiting for certainty. Ask honestly whether the fear driving the delay is based on something real, or on a threat that only exists in the imagination.

πŸ—£ Discuss

Is there something we've been avoiding out of fear that isn't as threatening as it feels?

πŸ™ Pray

Lord, give us boldness today where we've been hesitating out of fear. Let a clear conscience make us confident, and help us tell the real difference between wise caution and fear that has no actual basis. Amen.
