A Short Devotion on Hope for Your Next Meeting

πŸ“– Romans 15:13

β€œNow the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

πŸ’ Reflection

It's easy for a team facing a hard season to talk itself into low expectations as a form of protection, if we don't hope for much, we won't be disappointed. Paul offers something sturdier: hope that comes from God, not from circumstances looking good, filled by the Spirit rather than manufactured by optimism. That distinction matters practically, manufactured optimism collapses the moment circumstances get harder, while hope rooted somewhere deeper than the immediate situation can survive a genuinely difficult season without becoming denial.

βœ… In Practice

Ask the group: what's one thing about this project we've quietly stopped hoping for? Then talk honestly together about whether that hope deserves to come back, or whether expectations genuinely need to be reset instead, since not every lowered expectation is actually unhealthy.

πŸ—£ Discuss

Where have we quietly stopped hoping for something we should still be hoping for?

πŸ™ Pray

Father, fill us with real hope today, not wishful thinking, but the kind that comes from You and doesn't depend on how things look right now. Restore whatever hope we've quietly let go of out of self-protection. Amen.
