A Short Devotion on Conflict Resolution for Your Next Meeting

📖 Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”

💭 Reflection

Peacemaking is active, not the same as peacekeeping, which often just means avoiding conflict rather than actually resolving it. A peacemaker steps into tension on purpose, willing to do the harder work of reconciliation instead of letting things stay unresolved for the sake of comfort. The distinction matters more than it first appears, peacekeeping often just delays a conflict while it quietly worsens underneath a calm surface, while peacemaking actually addresses what's causing the tension in the first place.

If there's unresolved tension between two people in this room, don't let today's meeting end without at least naming that it needs a real conversation, not just continued avoidance. Naming the need for a conversation is different from forcing it immediately, and both people deserve the chance to prepare for it rather than being ambushed.
