A Short Devotion on Change for Your Next Meeting

πŸ“– Romans 12:2

β€œAnd be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

πŸ’ Reflection

Change is often resisted in groups not because the old way is working well, but because it's familiar. Paul's picture of transformation starts with the mind, meaning real change in how a team operates usually has to start with how its people think, before it shows up in what they do. It's worth noticing that transformation here is described as ongoing, renewing, not a single decision made once, which suggests lasting change in a group's habits usually takes longer than one good meeting.

βœ… In Practice

Before resisting a proposed change today, ask yourself honestly whether your objection is about the idea's actual merit or simply about how familiar the old way feels. Familiarity is comfortable, but comfort isn't the same thing as correctness, and it's worth being honest about which one is really driving the resistance.

πŸ—£ Discuss

Is there a change we've been resisting more out of comfort than conviction?

πŸ™ Pray

God, renew our minds today. Give us the willingness to change what needs to change, not just defend what's familiar, and give this renewal real staying power beyond today's conversation. Amen.
