A Short Devotion on Sacrifice for Your Next Meeting

πŸ“– Romans 12:1

β€œI beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

πŸ’ Reflection

A living sacrifice is a strange picture, something given up that keeps on living and serving. That's a fitting image for the ordinary sacrifices a group asks of its members, time, preference, credit, given not once dramatically but repeatedly, in the everyday texture of working together. Unlike a one-time dramatic gesture, a living sacrifice has to be offered again the next day, and the day after, which is precisely what makes it harder and, in its own way, more meaningful.

βœ… In Practice

Notice one ongoing, unglamorous sacrifice someone in this group has been quietly making, and name it out loud today as something worth real appreciation, not just assumed. Ongoing sacrifice is easy to overlook precisely because it's repeated rather than dramatic.

πŸ—£ Discuss

What's a small, ongoing sacrifice someone in this group is quietly making that deserves recognition?

πŸ™ Pray

Lord, help us give ourselves fully to this work today, not as a one-time gesture but as an ongoing offering to You. Let us also notice and honor the quiet, repeated sacrifices of the people around us. Amen.
