A Short Devotion on Respect for Your Next Meeting

πŸ“– Romans 12:10

β€œBe kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.”

πŸ’ Reflection

Preferring one another in honor is a strange kind of competition, each person trying to give the other more credit and consideration rather than seeking it for themselves. In a group where everyone wants to be heard, this verse suggests the healthiest posture is wanting others to be heard first. It's a genuinely counter-cultural instruction, most working environments quietly reward people who make sure their own contributions are visible, while this verse points toward actively making someone else's visible instead.

βœ… In Practice

Before this meeting ends, make a point of publicly crediting someone else's contribution to the work, even if it would have been easy to let it go unnoticed. Public credit costs you nothing and means more than most people realize, and it rarely happens unless someone specifically decides to make it happen.

πŸ—£ Discuss

Who in this room deserves more honor and recognition than they've been getting from us?

πŸ™ Pray

God, help us genuinely honor each other today, looking for ways to lift others up rather than ourselves. Break whatever quiet habit we have of making sure our own contributions get noticed first. Amen.
