A Short Devotion on New Ideas for Your Next Meeting

📖 Isaiah 43:19

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?”

💭 Reflection

God's question at the end of this verse is almost a challenge, will you actually notice when I do something new, or will you be too fixed on the old way to see it. New ideas in a group often arrive quietly, easy to dismiss if everyone's too committed to how things have always been done. The verse assumes something worth noting, new things spring forth whether or not a group is paying attention, the real risk isn't that nothing new happens, it's that the group misses it.

When a new idea comes up today that challenges how things have always been done, resist dismissing it in the first thirty seconds. Give it a real hearing before deciding, even if your first instinct is skepticism, since first instincts are sometimes just discomfort in disguise.
