A Short Devotion on Humility for Your Next Meeting

πŸ“– Philippians 2:3

β€œLet nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

πŸ’ Reflection

This is one of the harder verses to actually practice in a room full of people with opinions. Paul isn't asking anyone to think less of themselves, he's asking for a habit of genuinely considering that the person across the table might be right, might have something to offer, might matter as much as your own position does. Notice how often disagreements in meetings are really about being heard rather than about the actual substance, humility loosens that grip and makes room for the idea that turns out to be better than yours.

βœ… In Practice

The next time someone disagrees with your idea today, resist responding immediately. Ask one honest question about their view before you defend your own, and pay attention to whether you're actually listening or just waiting for your turn to talk.

πŸ—£ Discuss

Where might we be pushing an idea today more because it's ours than because it's best?

πŸ™ Pray

God, keep us from arguing to win today. Help us actually value what others bring, not just defend what we brought, and free us from needing to be the one who's right in every conversation. Amen.
