My youngest still checks under the bed some nights. Not every night, just the nights when something at school went sideways, or a show had a scene that stuck with him, or thunder rolled through after he was already tucked in. I used to think the job was to talk him out of being scared. It isn't. The job is to sit with him in it and point at Someone bigger than whatever's under the bed. That's the whole idea behind Kids Devotion About Fear, a 30-day Bible devotional book for kids ages 6 to 10, written for the actual, specific fears kids carry, not the vague, general kind adults tend to write about.
π Kids Devotion About Fear
30 short Bible readings for kids ages 6-10. Five minutes a day, real fears, real Scripture, no long chapters required.
What's Actually Inside
This isn't a devotional about fear in the abstract. Every one of the 30 days is built around a specific thing that actually scares kids: the dark bedroom, a bad dream, thunder, the first day of school, being left out, someone being mean, messing up, a parent being upset, the doctor's office, moving somewhere new, failing at something, being alone in a room, a sick family member, scary news on TV, telling a hard truth, feeling small, not getting picked, feeling mad and scared at once, and more. Here's the full list:

Inside a Few Actual Days
Rather than just tell you it's good, here's what a handful of the real days actually look like.
Day 1: Dark Bedroom

Psalm 56:3 β What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
The room feels bigger when the light goes off. Your ears get loud. Your heart starts knocking. That does not mean God left the room. The dark cannot push Him out. Say His name in the quiet. Trust is not a feeling you wait for. Trust is what you do while your heart is still knocking.
Talk about it: What part of bedtime feels the scariest?
Pray: God, the dark feels big. I will trust You here. Amen.
Day 3: Thunder

Psalm 46:1 β God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Thunder is only loud air. It can still make your stomach jump. God is closer than the storm. Refuge means a safe place. You do not have to be the strong one. He is already present help, not later help.
Talk about it: What sound or weather makes you feel small?
Pray: God, be my safe place when the sky gets loud. Amen.
Day 5: Being Left Out

Deuteronomy 31:8 β And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Watching other kids play without you hurts. It can feel like you disappeared. God does not skip you. He goes before you and stays with you. Being left out of a game is not the same as being left out by God.
Talk about it: When was the last time you felt left out?
Pray: God, when I feel invisible, remind me You see me. Amen.
Day 9: The Doctor

Psalm 56:3 β What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
Waiting rooms smell strange. People talk in quiet voices. Your mind runs ahead of the visit. Trust can sit in the chair with you. God is not only for church. He is for shots, stitches, and checkups too.
Talk about it: What is the hardest part of going to the doctor?
Pray: God, I am afraid. I will trust You in this place. Amen.
Day 14: The News Feels Scary

John 14:27 β Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Grownup news can leak into the car and the kitchen. Your heart was not built to carry the whole world. Jesus gives a different kind of peace. You can ask a parent to explain only what you need. You can give the rest to Him.
Talk about it: What news or grownup talk has been sitting in your head?
Pray: Jesus, give me Your peace. Hold the world. Hold me. Amen.
Day 30: God Is Bigger Than My Fear

Isaiah 41:10 β Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Fear is loud. God is larger. You practiced this for 29 days. You will still feel afraid sometimes. That does not mean the book failed. It means you now have words to take with you. He is with you. He will help you. He will hold you up.
Talk about it: Which day in this book do you want to read again?
Pray: God, You are bigger than my fear. I will trust You. Amen.
π Get the Full 30 Days
These are just 6 of the 30. Every day gets its own verse, thought, question, and prayer, built around a fear kids actually carry.
How to Actually Use This With Your Family
The book keeps it to five steps, and they hold up in real life, not just in theory:
- Read the verse out loud.
- Read the short thought.
- Ask the question, then actually wait for an answer instead of filling the silence yourself.
- Pray the prayer together.
- Do the tiny "try this" if you have a minute left.
If you miss a day, skip ahead to today rather than trying to catch up. As the book itself puts it, God is not keeping a streak. He is keeping your child.
A Word for Parents
This book doesn't pretend a five-minute devotional fixes every fear. If a worry is bigger than what a nightly reading can hold, talk with your child directly and get more help, a doctor, a counselor, a pastor, whoever fits. This book is meant to be a starting door, not the only door. Fear is not a failure in a kid. It's an invitation to bring it to God instead of carrying it alone, which is really the whole point of the 30 days.
