💭 What This Means
Today's reading in Deuteronomy is a powerful call to remember. Moses urges the Israelites to "Hear, O Israel" and to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, and might. He tells them to teach these commands diligently to their children, making faith a constant part of life. He warns them intensely not to forget God when they enter the promised land, a land of abundance they didn't earn. Remember the forty years in the wilderness, how God humbled them, fed them with manna, and taught them that man lives by every word from God. It wasn't their righteousness that earned them this land, but God's faithfulness to His promises and the wickedness of the nations already there. Moses reminds them of their stubbornness, even the golden calf incident, and how he interceded for them. The message is clear: remember God's goodness, His discipline, and their own tendency to stray, so they can walk in His ways.
