💭 What This Means
Today, Moses delivers powerful final instructions to the people, including charging Joshua to lead them. He recounts his own plea to enter the promised land and God's refusal, but he sees it from Mount Pisgah. Moses passionately urges Israel to obey God's statutes and judgments, reminding them of the unique wisdom and understanding they possess because the Lord is so near to them. He warns them intensely against idolatry, recalling the awesome day at Horeb when God spoke to them directly from the fire. This was a profound, terrifying moment, resulting in the Ten Commandments. The people were so afraid they asked Moses to mediate. God desired that they would always have such a heart to fear and obey Him, so that it might go well with them and their children in the land.
🙏 Let's Pray
Lord, thank You for speaking Your word to us directly. Help us to remember Your awesome presence and to obey Your commands with all our heart. Give us the wisdom to live by Your statutes and to teach them to our children, that it may go well with us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
