Day 65 of 365

God's Unstoppable Blessings

Numbers 22:1-24:25

Today's reading, then a short explanation, then a closing prayer — all one recording.

💭 What This Means

Today's reading introduces us to Balaam, a non-Israelite prophet King Balak of Moab hires to curse the Israelites. Balak is terrified of this mighty nation camped nearby. God tells Balaam not to go, but after Balak's persistent offers of riches, Balaam goes anyway. What happens next is one of the most unexpected stories in the Bible: God sends an angel to block Balaam's path, an angel visible only to Balaam's donkey. The talking donkey confronts Balaam, and then Balaam sees the angel, realizing his error. Three times, Balak brings Balaam to different locations, hoping to curse Israel, but each time, God puts words in Balaam's mouth, turning curses into powerful blessings. Balaam prophecies Israel's strength and future, even foretelling a 'Star out of Jacob' and a 'Sceptre out of Israel,' a clear picture of the coming Messiah. This whole story shows God's incredible power to protect His people and fulfill His promises, even through unexpected messengers.

🙏 Let's Pray

Lord, thank You for Your unwavering protection over Your people, and over me. Even when others try to stand against Your plans, You turn it into a blessing. Help me to trust that You are always working for my good, just as You worked for Israel. In Jesus' name, Amen.
