💭 What This Means
Today's reading takes us deeper into the book of Revelation, starting with the final three letters to the churches. Sardis is called out for being spiritually dead despite appearances, urged to wake up and repent. Philadelphia receives praise for their faithfulness, promised an open door and protection. Laodicea, however, is rebuked for being lukewarm and self-sufficient, blind to their true spiritual poverty. Christ stands at their door, knocking, inviting them to open and dine with Him. Then, John is transported to a breathtaking vision of heaven. He sees God on His throne, surrounded by twenty-four elders and four living creatures, all in ceaseless worship. A sealed scroll is presented, and no one is found worthy to open it until the Lion of Judah, who is also the Lamb "as it had been slain," steps forward. The Lamb takes the scroll, prompting an explosion of worship from all creation, praising Him for His sacrifice and redemption. As the Lamb begins to open the seven seals, we witness the initial judgments unleashed on the earth: a conquering rider, war, famine, death, and the cry of martyrs. The sixth seal brings cosmic upheaval, as the world recoils from the wrath of God and the Lamb.

Lord, thank You for the warnings and promises to the churches. Help me to never be spiritually dead or lukewarm, but to be faithful and zealous for You. I praise You for Your worthiness, Lamb of God, who was slain and redeemed us by Your blood. Give me courage to stand firm, knowing that You are on the throne, and Your justice will prevail.
