💭 What This Means
Today's reading opens with Jude's urgent call to earnestly contend for the faith. He warns against false teachers who twist grace and deny Christ, using vivid examples of God's past judgments on unbelievers and the ungodly. Jude reminds us that these deceivers are not new, and he encourages believers to build themselves up in their most holy faith and keep themselves in God's love. Then, we turn to the awe-inspiring beginning of Revelation, where John sees a majestic vision of the glorified Jesus Christ. He is the Alpha and Omega, the living one who was dead and now holds the keys of death and Hades. This powerful Jesus then speaks directly to the churches. In Revelation chapter two, we hear His specific messages to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, and Thyatira. He praises their faithfulness and endurance but also confronts their compromises and calls them to repent. Each message ends with a promise for those who overcome, reminding us that Jesus is intimately involved with His church, knowing their struggles and offering victory.
