💭 What This Means
Today's reading covers a lot of ground, starting with a strong call to be separate from unbelievers, reminding us that we are the temple of the living God. God promises to be our Father if we come out and touch no unclean thing. Then Paul speaks of his comfort in tribulation, especially after Titus brought news of the Corinthians' godly sorrow. This sorrow led them to repentance, a sorrow that brings life, unlike worldly sorrow which brings death. Paul rejoices in their changed hearts. The chapters then shift to the grace of giving, highlighting the Macedonian churches' extreme generosity even in deep poverty. Paul encourages cheerful giving, reminding us that Christ Himself, though rich, became poor for our sakes, so that through His poverty we might become rich. God loves a cheerful giver and is able to make all grace abound toward us. Finally, Paul defends his authority, explaining that our spiritual weapons are mighty through God to pull down strongholds, casting down imaginations and bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. We are to glory in the Lord alone.

Lord, thank You for calling us to be Your temple and Your children. Help us to live separate lives, perfecting holiness in Your fear. Teach us to have godly sorrow that leads to true repentance. Make us cheerful givers, remembering Christ's example. Equip us with Your spiritual weapons to cast down every stronghold and bring our thoughts captive to You. May we always glory in You alone.
