💭 What This Means
Moses finally heads back to Egypt, but the journey is not without its difficulties, including a mysterious encounter where God almost takes his life, resolved by Zipporah's quick action. Aaron meets him, and together they present God's message and signs to the Israelite elders, who believe and worship. But the real challenge begins when Moses and Aaron confront Pharaoh. Pharaoh, defiant, refuses to let the people go and responds by making their lives even harder, demanding bricks without straw. The people, crushed by their increased burdens, turn on Moses and Aaron. Moses, in turn, cries out to God, questioning why things have only gotten worse. God then powerfully reassures Moses, reminding him of His covenant name, Yahweh, and His promise to redeem Israel with a strong hand. Even with Moses' continued doubts about his speaking ability, God empowers him. The confrontation with Pharaoh truly begins as Aaron's rod turns into a serpent, only to be mimicked by Pharaoh's magicians, foreshadowing the great battle to come.

Lord, this part of the story shows that obeying You doesn't always make things easier right away. Moses faced hardship and doubt, and the people suffered more. Help me remember Your powerful promises when my circumstances get worse instead of better. Remind me that You are Yahweh, the God who remembers His covenant and will act with a strong hand. Give me faith to trust Your plan, even when I can't see the full picture. In Jesus' name, Amen.
