💭 What This Means

Today we dive into the beginning of Exodus, seeing God's people multiplied and then terribly oppressed in Egypt. Pharaoh orders the killing of all Hebrew baby boys, but Moses is miraculously saved and raised in Pharaoh's own house. After killing an Egyptian, Moses flees to Midian, where he becomes a shepherd. Years pass, and the Israelites' cries reach God. Then, at a burning bush on Mount Horeb, God calls Moses to lead His people out of slavery. God reveals His holy name, 'I AM THAT I AM,' and assures Moses that He has seen their affliction and will deliver them to a land flowing with milk and honey. Moses, feeling inadequate, doubts his ability to speak or convince the people. But God promises to be with him and even sends his brother Aaron to speak on his behalf. This is the moment God sets His plan of deliverance in motion, remembering His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Lord, thank You for hearing the cries of Your people and remembering Your promises. Even when I feel inadequate or doubt my own abilities, You are mighty and ready to act. Help me trust Your power and Your presence in my life, knowing that You are I AM. In Jesus' name, Amen.
