💭 What This Means
Chapter fourteen gives us practical wisdom for how spiritual gifts like speaking in tongues and prophecy should function in the church. Paul emphasizes that everything must be done for edification, meaning for building up the body of believers. He stresses that understanding is vital, and that God is a God of peace, not confusion. Then, in chapter fifteen, Paul delivers a powerful defense of the resurrection. He reminds us of the core gospel: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, seen by many witnesses. He insists that if Christ has not been raised, our faith is in vain. But Christ is risen, the firstfruits of a glorious future resurrection for all who believe. Our corruptible bodies will be raised incorruptible, mortal will become immortal. Death, the last enemy, is swallowed up in victory through Jesus Christ. So, we are called to be steadfast in our work for the Lord, knowing it is not in vain.

Lord, thank You for the incredible hope of the resurrection. Thank You that Christ has conquered death, and that because He lives, we too shall live.
