💭 What This Means
Today's reading in 1 Corinthians covers a lot of ground in the life of the early church. Paul begins by addressing order in worship and then sharply corrects the Corinthian believers for their divisions and disrespectful behavior during the Lord's Supper. He reminds them of Jesus' own words at the Last Supper and the serious call to examine themselves. Then, Paul moves to the topic of spiritual gifts, explaining that there are many different gifts, but all come from the same Spirit and are meant to build up the one body of Christ. No gift is superior, and every member is essential. But then, he shows them a "more excellent way." Chapter thirteen, the famous love chapter, reveals that even the most impressive gifts, without love, are just noise. Love is patient, kind, and seeks the good of others. It endures everything. While gifts will fade, faith, hope, and love will remain, and love is the greatest. This is the heart of living as God's people.

Lord, thank You for the gifts You give to Your church, and for the wisdom You offer about how we should live and worship together. Help me to remember the sacredness of Your Supper and to always seek unity with my brothers and sisters. Above all, teach me to walk in love, knowing it is the greatest gift and the most excellent way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
