Today's reading captures Jesus' final intimate moments with his disciples before his arrest. He predicts Peter's denial, a stark reminder of human weakness, but also prays for Peter's faith not to fail. Jesus then offers profound comfort, telling them not to let their hearts be troubled, promising a place for them in his Father's house, and declaring Himself as the way, the truth, and the life. He assures them that He is going to prepare a place and will return for them. He also promises the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, who will teach and remind them of all He has said, leaving them with His peace. The powerful imagery of the true vine and the branches emphasizes that we are to abide in Him to bear fruit. This abiding is essential because without Him, we can do nothing.
