💭 What This Means
Today, we see Jesus step fully into His public ministry. After John the Baptist is imprisoned, Jesus begins preaching in Galilee, declaring that the time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand. He calls us to repent and believe this good news. We witness His power as He heals a nobleman's son from a distance, and then in Capernaum, He teaches with authority that astounds everyone. He casts out an unclean spirit, demonstrating His dominion over evil. We also see Him call His first disciples, Simon, Andrew, James, and John, inviting them to become "fishers of men." While He is rejected in His hometown of Nazareth after declaring Isaiah's prophecy fulfilled, He continues His mission. He heals Simon's mother-in-law and countless others, fulfilling the prophet's words that He took our infirmities. Even with crowds seeking Him, Jesus prioritizes prayer before continuing to preach and heal across Galilee, bringing the good news to all.
🙏 Let's Pray
Lord, thank You for sending Jesus to usher in Your Kingdom. Thank You for His authority over sickness and evil, and for His clear call to repent and believe the good news. Help me to respond to His invitation to follow Him wholeheartedly. Give me eyes to see Your Kingdom at hand today, and a heart ready to serve You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
