💭 What This Means
Today, Job reaches a new low in his suffering, feeling truly abandoned by God and by everyone around him. He describes his agony, saying God has encompassed him with a net and stripped him of his glory. His friends, family, and even servants have turned against him. But then, in the midst of this deep despair, Job makes one of the most incredible declarations of faith in all of scripture. He cries out, "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in my flesh I shall see God." This is a powerful, unwavering hope in a future vindication and resurrection, even when everything else seems lost. Then, Zophar speaks again, insisting that the wicked always suffer quickly and perish like their own dung. But Job pushes back, observing that this isn't always true. He points out that many wicked people live long, prosper, and die peacefully. He challenges his friends' easy answers, reminding them that life and justice are often more complex than they imagine. Job's faith holds firm, even as he grapples with profound questions.

Lord, thank You for the unwavering faith of Job, even in his darkest hour. When I feel abandoned or misunderstood, help me to hold onto the truth that my Redeemer lives.
