💭 What This Means
Today we hear Eliphaz accuse Job of specific sins, telling him that if he would only make peace with God, prosperity would return. Job, however, longs to find God, to present his case directly before Him. He feels God is hidden, saying he cannot perceive Him in any direction, yet he trusts that God knows his way and will refine him like gold. Job then laments the widespread injustice he sees in the world, where the wicked prosper and oppress the vulnerable, while God seems to remain silent. He describes in detail the suffering of the poor, the fatherless, and the widows at the hands of those who commit murder, theft, and adultery. Job struggles with God's apparent inaction. Bildad then offers his final, brief speech, emphasizing God's immense power and holiness, and questioning how any human, a mere 'worm,' can be righteous or clean in His sight.

Lord, today's reading shows us Job's deep longing for You, even when You feel hidden. It also highlights the pain of injustice in the world. Help me to trust Your wisdom and sovereignty, even when I don't understand Your ways. Give me faith like Job's, to believe You know my path and will bring me forth as gold. In Jesus' name, Amen.
