💭 What This Means
Today's reading in Isaiah hammers home a crucial message: where do we place our trust? Chapters thirty and thirty-one repeatedly warn against relying on Egypt's military might instead of turning to the Lord. God calls His people rebellious for seeking human strength and ignoring His counsel. He tells them their strength is to "sit still," to find salvation in "returning and rest," in "quietness and confidence." Despite their stubbornness, God declares He waits to be gracious. He promises a future where a righteous king will reign, and His Spirit will be poured out, transforming the land. Chapter thirty-three beautifully concludes, affirming the Lord as our judge, lawgiver, and king, promising that in Zion, His people will dwell in a secure, peaceful habitation, and their iniquity will be forgiven.
