Some moments in recovery don't leave room for long, composed prayers, a craving, a wave of shame, the morning after a relapse. Below are short prayers for those specific moments, with the Scripture behind each one.

A Prayer for a Craving
God, I can't win this one on my own strength. Right now, in this exact moment, I hand it to You. Be my strength where mine runs out. Amen.
1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." A craving qualifies as care worth casting, in full, exactly as it is right now.
A Prayer for Shame
Lord, I know what I've done wrong, and I'm not going to hide it from You. Meet me here anyway. Amen.
Psalm 34:18 "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." Shame tends to convince a person that God is far away right when the opposite is true.
A Prayer After a Relapse
Father, I fell. I'm not going to make excuses for it. I confess it, and I'm asking You to forgive it and help me stand back up. Amen.
1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Proverbs 24:16 "For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again." A relapse prayer isn't about explaining the fall, it's about getting back up.
A Morning Prayer to Start the Day
God, today is one day. I'm not asking for forever right now, just today. Walk with me through it. Amen.
Lamentations 3:22-23 "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed... They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." A daily prayer, matching a daily fight.
An Evening Prayer to Close the Day
Lord, thank You for getting me through today. Whatever I got wrong, I hand it to You tonight. Whatever went right, that was Your strength, not just mine. Amen.
Philippians 4:6-7 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." An evening prayer closes the day the same way the morning one opened it, handed over, not carried alone.
For the Quiet Part of the Day
I wrote this because I needed it myself. It doesn't replace your program, your sponsor, or your meetings, it's just something to sit with in the quiet part of the day, alongside all of that.
