Recent news of persistently high oil prices has sparked conversations about economic stability, but let us not forget that our hope is rooted in the eternal promises of our Lord. In the midst of uncertainty, we are called to trust in His wisdom and provision.
Economic Challenges and Trust in the Lord
The rising cost of oil is a challenge that affects families, businesses, and nations. Yet, this is not a sign of God’s absence, but an opportunity to reflect on our reliance on Him. In Proverbs 28:1, we read, “The righteous are like a city that is securely built; but the wicked are like a faulty wall.” When we face difficulties, we are to build our lives on the foundation of Christ, knowing that He is our refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). Our faith should not waver, even when circumstances seem overwhelming.
Stewardship and Responsibility
As stewards of God’s resources, we are called to use what we have wisely and with integrity. 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, “Each of you should use your gifts to serve others, as good managers of God’s grace.” This includes how we manage our finances, energy use, and the well-being of our communities.
