💭 What This Means
Today's reading is packed with incredible events, showing God's power and faithfulness to His people. When five Amorite kings attack Gibeon for making peace with Israel, Joshua marches all night to help. The Lord fights for Israel, not only confusing the enemy but also casting down huge hailstones from heaven, killing more enemies than the Israelite army. Then, in an unprecedented moment, Joshua commands the sun and moon to stand still, and they obey, allowing Israel to complete their victory. This passage emphasizes that the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel. We then see Joshua's continued obedience as he conquers many cities and kings in the south and north, utterly destroying them as God commanded. Chapter eleven describes a massive northern alliance, but again, the Lord delivers them into Israel's hand. The land finally rests from war, a testament to God fulfilling His promise to give them the land.
🙏 Let's Pray
Lord, thank You for being a God who fights for His people. Thank You for the amazing ways You showed Your power to Joshua and Israel, even making the sun stand still. Help me to trust in Your mighty hand today, knowing that You are with me in every battle. Give me courage and obedience to follow Your commands. In Jesus' name, Amen.
