💭 What This Means
Today marks a significant transition in the story of God's people. We begin with Moses' powerful final blessings over each of the tribes of Israel, a prophetic send off from their great leader. Then, in a poignant moment, Moses ascends Mount Nebo. From there, God shows him the Promised Land, the land he had led his people toward for forty years, but which he himself would not enter. Moses, the servant of the Lord, dies at one hundred and twenty years old, his strength undiminished. His successor, Joshua, is then commissioned by God himself. God promises Joshua His unwavering presence, just as He was with Moses. Joshua is called to be strong and courageous, to meditate on the Law day and night, and not to turn from it. This new leader then immediately sends two spies into Jericho. There, they meet Rahab, a woman who already knows of the Lord's power and His intention to give Israel the land. Her faith leads to a promise of salvation for her and her family, marked by a scarlet cord.

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness through generations, from Moses to Joshua. Thank You for Your promise to be with us, just as You were with them. Give us courage to step into new seasons, trusting Your presence and Your Word. Help us to also see Your hand at work in unexpected places, just like with Rahab. In Jesus' name, Amen.
