💭 What This Means
Moses continues his final address, reminding Israel of God's mighty acts in Egypt and the wilderness, and establishing a renewed covenant with all generations, even those not yet born. He warns them sternly against turning to idols, describing the terrible curses and desolation that would befall the land if they abandoned God, like Sodom and Gomorrah. Yet, a powerful promise follows: if they repent and return to the Lord with all their heart and soul, God will gather them from exile and circumcise their hearts to love Him fully. Moses declares that God's command is not too difficult or far off, but very near, in their mouths and hearts. He sets before them life and good, or death and evil, urging them to choose life. Finally, Moses announces his impending death, commissions Joshua as his successor, and assures both Joshua and Israel that God will go before them and never fail or forsake them, even as God foretells Israel's future rebellion.

Lord, thank You for the choice You set before us: life and good, or death and evil. Help me to choose life today by loving You with all my heart and soul. Thank You for Your promise to never fail or forsake me, even when I am weak. Give me courage to walk in Your ways. In Jesus' name, Amen.
