Today's reading is full of intricate details about how God's people were to be set apart for Him. We see the elaborate seven-day consecration of Aaron and his sons as priests, involving washing, special garments, anointing oil, and specific sacrifices like the ram of consecration, with blood placed on their ears, thumbs, and toes. This rigorous process emphasized their holiness and the seriousness of their service. Then we hear about the altar of incense, the required census tax for atonement, and the laver for washing before ministry. God even provides specific recipes for the holy anointing oil and sacred incense. It all points to a God who is holy and desires His people to approach Him with reverence. But it also shows His provision: He not only gives instructions but also equips people like Bezaleel and Aholiab with the Spirit of God to do the skilled work for the tabernacle.
