💭 What This Means
Today, Peter reminds us of our incredible identity in Christ. We are living stones, built into a spiritual house, a royal priesthood. Chosen by God, we've been called out of darkness into His marvelous light. This new identity comes with a call to live differently. Peter urges us to abstain from fleshly desires, to submit to authorities, and to honor everyone. He gives specific instructions for wives and husbands, emphasizing inner beauty and mutual respect so prayers aren't hindered. A key theme throughout is suffering. Peter tells us not to be surprised by fiery trials, but to rejoice, knowing we partake in Christ's sufferings. He reminds us that Christ Himself suffered for us, leaving us an example. We're to be humble, casting all our cares on God because He truly cares for us. We must also be vigilant, resisting the devil who roams like a roaring lion.
