💭 What This Means
Romans fifteen begins with a clear call to unity, reminding us to bear with the weaknesses of others, just as Christ lived not to please himself. Paul then outlines his incredible missionary journey, having spread the gospel across vast regions, and now planning a trip to Spain after delivering a collection to the saints in Jerusalem. Chapter sixteen offers a personal look at the early church, as Paul warmly greets many friends and co-workers by name, showing the deep relationships that built the church. He also warns against those who cause divisions. Moving to Second Corinthians, Paul introduces God as the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He shares his own intense sufferings, even despairing of life itself, but how God delivered him to teach him to trust in the God who raises the dead. This comfort, he says, enables them to comfort others. He beautifully declares that all of God's promises in Christ are a resounding 'yes,' sealed by the Spirit in our hearts. He concludes by explaining his change of travel plans, assuring them his letter, though written with many tears, was out of genuine love.

Lord, thank You for being the God of all comfort, especially in our times of struggle. Thank You that all Your promises in Christ are a resounding 'yes' for us. Help me to trust You fully, even when I despair, and to use the comfort You give me to minister to others. Strengthen Your church to live in unity and love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
