💭 What This Means
Today's reading shows God's power in dramatic ways. We start with Peter, miraculously freed from prison by an angel, his chains falling off while praying believers are astonished by his appearance. This divine intervention contrasts sharply with Herod's swift judgment for accepting worship meant only for God. Then, the Holy Spirit sets apart Barnabas and Saul for their first missionary journey. They face spiritual opposition, like when Paul blinds the sorcerer Elymas, and they preach powerfully, proclaiming Jesus as the fulfillment of God's promises, offering forgiveness through faith. When some Jews reject the message, Paul declares they will turn to the Gentiles, and many believe. Even when Paul is stoned and left for dead in Lystra, God's purpose is not thwarted. He revives and continues to spread the unstoppable word, demonstrating that no human opposition can stop God's plan.
