💭 What This Means
Today's readings remind us to be ready. In Luke, Jesus urges His followers to live like servants awaiting their master's return, prepared and faithful. He speaks of the division His coming will bring, and the need to discern the times. He calls us to repent, not because misfortune signals greater sin, but because we all need to turn to God. He heals a woman bound for eighteen years, showing His compassion and authority, even on the Sabbath. Then in John, we witness a powerful display of this authority. Jesus heals a man born blind, not because of sin, but so God's works could be revealed. This miracle causes a stir. The man, once blind, now sees both physically and spiritually, boldly testifying to Jesus. Meanwhile, the religious leaders, who claim to see, remain spiritually blind, rejecting the light. Jesus came to open the eyes of those who cannot see, and expose the blindness of those who think they can.

Lord, thank You for being the light of the world. Open my eyes, Lord, to see You more clearly each day. Help me to be ready for Your coming, living faithfully and discerning Your will. Give me the courage to testify to Your truth, even when it's hard. May Your works be manifest in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
