💭 What This Means

Today we begin the New Testament, starting with different introductions to the incredible story of Jesus. Mark gives a bold declaration of Jesus as the Son of God. Luke explains his careful research to Theophilus, offering an orderly account. Matthew immediately dives into Jesus' genealogy, showing his royal lineage from Abraham and David, fulfilling promises. Luke's genealogy takes us even further back, to Adam, connecting Jesus to all humanity. But it's John's opening that truly sets the stage, declaring Jesus as the eternal Word, who was with God and was God, through whom all things were made. This Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We see God's grand plan unfolding, from eternity into human history, as angels announce the impossible births of John the Baptist and Jesus. Zacharias doubts and is silenced; Mary humbly accepts. These beginnings show us Jesus is both fully God and fully man, the promised one.

Lord, thank You for sending Jesus, the eternal Word, to become flesh and dwell among us. Thank You for this incredible story that begins in eternity and unfolds in human history. Help me to truly understand and believe in who Jesus is, both God and man. Strengthen my faith as I follow Your grand plan. In Jesus' name, Amen.
