💭 What This Means
This final section of Zechariah is packed with powerful prophecies about God's future for His people and the world. We hear of a King coming to Jerusalem, humble yet just, riding on a donkey, bringing salvation and peace to the nations. This is a clear picture of Jesus. But the book also speaks of a Shepherd who will be struck, leading to the scattering of the sheep, and a price of thirty pieces of silver. It even foretells that the people will look on Him whom they have pierced and mourn. These are vivid images of Christ's betrayal, crucifixion, and the world's eventual recognition. The prophecies culminate in the Day of the Lord, when God will fight for Jerusalem, establish His reign over all the earth, and declare "Holiness unto the Lord" over everything. It's a vision of ultimate redemption and God's sovereign rule.

Lord, thank You for these amazing prophecies that point so clearly to Jesus. Thank You that You didn't just promise a King, but a humble Shepherd who would be pierced for our sins. Help me to live with hope for Your coming reign, and to always seek Your holiness in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
