💭 What This Means
Today's reading takes us deep into the spiritual realm with Daniel's final vision. After three weeks of fasting and prayer, Daniel sees a glorious angelic being, so overwhelming that he loses all strength. The angel reveals an unseen battle, explaining that he was delayed by the 'prince of Persia' and needed help from Michael, a chief angelic prince. This glimpse behind the curtain shows us that spiritual warfare is real, influencing earthly events. Chapters eleven and twelve then unfold incredibly detailed prophecies about future kingdoms, wars, and rulers, culminating in a time of great trouble and the 'abomination that makes desolate.' Yet, it also promises resurrection to everlasting life for God's people. We then shift to Ezra and Haggai, where the work on the temple has stalled. God, through Haggai, confronts the people for living in their comfortable homes while His house lies in ruins. He connects their struggles and lack of prosperity directly to this neglect. But when they obey and begin to build, God promises, 'I am with you.' It's a powerful reminder that our priorities matter, and God desires our active participation in His kingdom.
🙏 Let's Pray
Lord, thank You for this incredible glimpse into Your powerful control, even over unseen spiritual battles. Thank You that You have a plan for history, and You are faithful to carry it out. Help me to prioritize Your kingdom work in my own life, trusting that You are always with me as I obey. Strengthen me to live for You today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
