💭 What This Means
Today's reading opens with one of the Bible's most vivid images: a valley full of very dry bones. God asks Ezekiel, "Son of man, can these bones live?" This vision represents Israel's despair and lost hope in exile. But God, through Ezekiel, commands the bones to hear His word, and they miraculously come together, are covered with flesh, and then receive breath, standing up as a vast army. This is God's powerful promise to restore His people, to open their graves of captivity, and to put His Spirit within them. The joining of two sticks symbolizes the future unity of Judah and Israel under one shepherd. We also see God's sovereign hand in the prophecies against Gog and Magog, where He defends His restored people against overwhelming odds, and the lament against Egypt, showing His judgment over all nations. God's glory and power are on full display, promising life and protection to His people.

Lord, thank You for being the God who brings life to dry bones. When I feel hopeless or lost, remind me that Your Spirit can breathe life into any situation. Thank You for Your promise of restoration and for Your powerful protection. Help me to trust in Your sovereign plan, knowing You are always working to bring life and unity. In Jesus' name, Amen.
