💭 What This Means
Today, we meet Job, a man described as blameless and upright, blessed with family and immense wealth. But in a dramatic scene, Satan challenges God, claiming Job only serves Him because of His protection and blessings. God allows Satan to test Job, stripping him of everything: his livestock, his servants, and tragically, all his children. Yet, Job's response is profound: he worships, saying, "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Satan then afflicts Job with painful boils, and even his wife tells him to curse God and die. Job refuses, reminding her they should receive both good and evil from God. Three friends arrive, sitting in silent sorrow for seven days. But then Job breaks the silence, not with a curse, but with a deep lament, wishing he had never been born. His friend Eliphaz begins to speak, suggesting that suffering is often a consequence of wickedness, hinting that Job must have sinned.

Lord, today's story of Job is so hard to hear. We see his immense suffering and his initial worship, even when everything was lost. Help me to trust You, like Job did, when life brings pain and confusion. May I remember that You are good, even when I don't understand Your ways. Give me strength to hold fast to my integrity.
