💭 What This Means
Today, the story of Joseph's family reuniting reaches its peak. Pharaoh himself invites Jacob and all his household to Egypt, promising them the very best of the land. Jacob is overwhelmed when he hears Joseph is alive, his spirit reviving as he sees the wagons sent for them. On his journey, God speaks to him at Beer-sheba, reassuring him not to fear going to Egypt, promising to make him a great nation there, and to bring them up again. We then read the list of the seventy souls who came into Egypt, a small but growing family. Joseph and Jacob's reunion is deeply emotional. Joseph then wisely advises his brothers on how to secure the fertile land of Goshen for their settlement. Jacob even blesses Pharaoh twice. The passage closes with Joseph's continued administration of the famine, consolidating power for Pharaoh while ensuring his family's survival and growth in the land of Goshen. This small family is now perfectly positioned for God's promise to make them a great nation.

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness to Jacob and his family. You kept Your promises, even through famine and separation. Thank You for Your provision and for guiding Your people to a place where they could grow. Help me to trust Your plan in my own life, knowing You are always at work, even when I can't see it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
