💭 What This Means
Today’s reading is full of dramatic stories showing God’s power at work through Elisha. We begin with Naaman, a powerful Syrian general, suffering from leprosy. He expects a grand healing, but Elisha simply tells him to wash seven times in the Jordan. Naaman’s initial pride gives way to humble obedience, and he is healed, declaring there is no God but the God of Israel. Then, when the Syrian army surrounds Elisha, his servant’s eyes are opened to see the mountain filled with unseen chariots of fire, revealing God’s powerful protection. Later, a severe famine grips Samaria, leading to unimaginable desperation. But God again works in an unexpected way: four outcast lepers discover that God has miraculously caused the entire Syrian army to flee, bringing sudden abundance and ending the famine, just as Elisha prophesied. These stories remind us that God often works in surprising ways, and His hand is always at work, even when we cannot see it.

Lord, thank You for these incredible stories of Your power and provision. Help us to trust You, even when Your ways seem simple or unexpected, just like Naaman did. Open our eyes to see Your unseen hand at work around us, protecting and providing, as Elisha's servant saw. Give us faith to believe Your promises, no matter how dire our circumstances.
