In the Beginning

Genesis 1:1-3:24

💭 What This Means

These three chapters cover more ground than almost anywhere else in Scripture. The entire universe called into being, the first man and woman placed in a garden made just for them, and then everything breaking. God speaks, and there is light, order, and life, and He calls it good, very good, in fact. Then in chapter two, we see how personal creation actually was. God forming Adam by hand, planting a garden, bringing Eve to him like a gift. And then chapter three, the moment doubt entered the world, and with it, shame, hiding, and blame. But even here, in the middle of the fall, God is already making a promise. That one day, someone would come to make this right. That promise is the thread that runs through the rest of the Bible.

🙏 Let's Pray

Lord, thank You for making this world, and for making me. Thank You that even when sin entered the story, You didn't walk away. You made a promise to come find us. Help me trust that promise today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
