💭 What This Means
Today's reading shows us just how seriously God takes uncleanness and how thoroughly He provides a way to be made clean. We hear detailed instructions for dealing with everything from mold in a house to various bodily discharges, each requiring specific steps for purification and restoration. These laws remind the Israelites that sin and uncleanness permeate many aspects of life, making them unfit to be in God's holy presence. But then, chapter sixteen brings us to the most important day of the year, the Day of Atonement. Here, Aaron sacrifices a bull for his own sins, and then for the people, two goats are chosen. One is sacrificed, and the other, the scapegoat, carries all the people's confessed sins into the wilderness. This powerful ritual was a yearly reminder that God Himself provides the way for His people to be cleansed from all their sins, making a path for them to draw near to Him.

Lord, thank You for providing a way for us to be clean. The laws of uncleanness show me how deeply sin affects everything, but the Day of Atonement reveals Your powerful provision for our sins. Thank You that You cleanse us completely. Help me to live in the freedom and purity You offer. In Jesus' name, Amen.
