💭 What This Means

Today's readings show us Jesus' incredible compassion and power, alongside profound lessons on faith and forgiveness. We see the Roman centurion, a man of authority, humbly ask Jesus to heal his servant. Jesus marvels at his faith, saying he hasn't found such great faith in all of Israel. Then, Jesus raises the widow's only son from the dead, moved by compassion. Even John the Baptist, in prison, sends to ask if Jesus is truly the Messiah. Jesus points to his miraculous works as proof. He laments the unrepentant cities that witnessed his power, but then offers a beautiful invitation to all who are weary and burdened to find rest in Him. Finally, a sinful woman washes Jesus' feet with her tears, showing deep love and receiving complete forgiveness. Jesus teaches that those who are forgiven much, love much.

Lord, thank You for Your deep compassion for the suffering. Help me to have the kind of faith that marvels You, like the centurion's. Thank You that You invite the weary to find rest in You. And when I stumble, remind me of Your great forgiveness and help me to love You more. In Jesus' name, Amen.
