Today's reading in Lamentations continues to paint a vivid, agonizing picture of Jerusalem's destruction. Chapter two describes God's fierce anger, portraying Him as an enemy who has brought down the city, its leaders, and its sacred places. We hear the cries of the suffering, the hunger of children, and the mockery of enemies. It's a raw outpouring of grief and desolation. Then in chapter three, the perspective shifts to a single man experiencing this affliction. His despair is profound, feeling cut off from God and hope. But in the midst of this deepest darkness, a breakthrough occurs: he remembers God's mercies, which are new every morning, and His unfailing compassion. This powerful passage reminds us that even when God's judgment is severe, His faithfulness remains.
