💭 What This Means
Today's reading gives us two powerful Psalms that tell the story of God and His people, Israel. Psalm 105 is a beautiful song of thanksgiving, recounting God's incredible faithfulness from the covenant with Abraham, through Joseph's imprisonment and rise to power, to the miraculous Exodus from Egypt, and finally to their inheritance of the promised land. It paints a picture of a God who remembers His promises, protects His people, and performs mighty wonders on their behalf. But then, Psalm 106 shifts our perspective. It's a confession of sin, admitting that Israel repeatedly forgot God's works and rebelled against Him. From grumbling in the wilderness, to worshipping the golden calf, to sacrificing their children to idols, the psalm details their unfaithfulness. Yet, even in the midst of their repeated failures, God, in His great mercy, heard their cries and delivered them again and again. These psalms together remind us of God's enduring goodness and our constant need for His grace.

Lord, thank You for Your amazing faithfulness, even when we are unfaithful. Psalm 105 reminds us of all Your mighty deeds, and Psalm 106 reminds us of our own tendency to forget and rebel. Forgive us for the times we have not trusted You. Help us to remember Your goodness and mercy today, and always seek Your face. In Jesus' name, Amen.
