💭 What This Means
Hezekiah begins his reign with an immediate and radical commitment to God. He opens the defiled temple, commanding the Levites to cleanse themselves and the sanctuary. They work diligently, and then Hezekiah leads the entire nation in a massive ceremony of atonement and worship, sacrificing for the kingdom and all Israel. The people respond with overwhelming generosity and joy. Hezekiah then calls all Israel, even the northern tribes, to a great Passover celebration, the likes of which hadn't been seen since Solomon. When many arrive unclean, Hezekiah prays for them, and God hears and heals. After this, the people spontaneously destroy idols throughout the land. Hezekiah also restores the support for the priests and Levites, and the people give so abundantly that there is more than enough. Hezekiah's wholehearted devotion to God leads to national revival and prosperity.

Lord, thank You for the example of King Hezekiah, who sought You with all his heart. Help me to be as diligent in removing what defiles my life, and to seek You wholeheartedly in worship and obedience. Thank You for Your grace that hears our prayers, even when we fall short. May my life bring You glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
