💭 What This Means

Today's reading shows us God's perfect timing, even when it feels like a delay. We see Joseph in prison, interpreting the dreams of Pharaoh's butler and baker. He correctly predicts their fates, asking the butler to remember him once restored. But the butler forgets, leaving Joseph in prison for two more years. Then, Pharaoh himself has troubling dreams. No one in Egypt can interpret them until the butler finally remembers Joseph. Joseph is quickly brought from the dungeon, but he immediately gives all credit to God for the interpretation. He reveals God's plan for seven years of plenty followed by seven years of severe famine. Pharaoh, recognizing God's Spirit in Joseph, elevates him from prisoner to second in command over all Egypt. Joseph, now thirty years old, wisely prepares for the famine, storing up vast amounts of grain, fulfilling God's intricate plan for His people. Even a short verse about Isaac's death reminds us of the passing of generations, while God's plan continues to advance.

Lord, thank You for Your perfect timing in Joseph's life. Even when he was forgotten and in prison, You were working. Help me to trust that You are always at work, even when I can't see it or when things feel delayed. Give me wisdom and faith to follow Your guidance today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
